What language should the pitches be in?
Please submit in either English or Tagalog.

What is the maximum duration of the intended short film?
Short film concepts should not exceed 10 minutes.

I have an existing short that I’ve already shot but not
completed, can I submit this?
No, the goal is to have the mentors guide you from the script stage.

I have an existing animated short that is not yet completed,
can I submit this?
No, the goal is to have the mentors guide you from the script stage.

I have an experimental film idea, can that be considered?
If there is a way for you to approach the idea with a clear narrative, yes.

I have completed a feature-length documentary, can I still
apply?
No, as the program is designed to encourage filmmakers who haven’t reached that stage yet.

I am a slightly older filmmaker, can I apply?
Yes, as long as you still have not directed and/or produced – or are currently in production – on a feature length film (both narrative and documentary).

Can I apply with more than one project?
Yes, but limit to two (2) film concepts per filmmaker so you can focus on the quality of the submission materials.

I am a producer, can I apply and submit on behalf of the
director?
No, the director should be the one submitting the project.

I have a co-director, can we submit?
Yes, directing teams of no more than two persons can submit, but please select one person to handle the online submission and be sure to specify you are co-directing on the concept pitch deck. That designated person will also become the main contact between the program and the directing team.

I am a Filipino based abroad, can I submit?
Yes, as long as your concept has a strong regional perspective.

I am based abroad and of Filipino descent but I am not a
Filipino national, may I submit?
No, the lab is focused on Filipino nationals at this time.

What costs do I need to pay to join the program?
There is no submission fee. You just need to commit to attending all the sessions of the program remotely and you have a stable internet connection to do so.

Will there be any film shooting during the program?
No, there will be no actual film production during the lab sessions. The program is designed for you to strengthen your concepts prior to production.

What is the selection process?
There are two rounds for selection. The first round, applicants will be short-listed from the strength of their application materials to the ten (10) participants to the lab. At the culmination of the lab, the ten (10) participants will submit their revised concept pitch and project materials, two (2) projects will be selected to receive a production grant.

Will my film project receive funding from the INDIEGENIUS
Project Lab?
The two (2) selected finalists will receive P500,000 grant to produce their approved short films. Regardless of who receives the grant, we hope the program will give valuable insights for all the participants and help increase their exposure to the film industry.

Will the filmmaker retain the rights to the film?
Yes. INDIEGENIUS and its partners just have the first option on its first screening as we may be able to help pitch it to festival for its premiere.

When the films are finished, will they be streamed on Netflix?
There are currently no plans to put the winning projects on Netflix. The goal of this program is to prepare participants for their future as filmmakers through a mentorship program and production grant, and empower them to share their distinct cultural perspectives through film.
